Submitted by bj on Sun, 2007-11-18 18:07.Ever since I found out about the VESA standard for LCD monitor mounts, I've been wondering if a computer could be made that's small enough to mount in that spot. In other words, instead of using the VESA mounting spec to mount the monitor to something, use it to mount something to the monitor.
You can't get away with this on just any monitor--the stand has to be out of the way and strong enough to support the weight. In my case, my Acer AL1906B was more than enough for the job. Now I just have to figure out how to patent this thing :-).

The sesame oil adds a wonderful nutty note to the earthiness of mushrooms. And teriyaki makes almost everything better. This dish is vegan and pretty much universally loved as either a main or side dish. Goes great with Rice Cooker Barley.

T'ai Chi and the Art of Software Engineering
Submitted by bj on Wed, 2007-11-07 14:36.So my T'ai Chi class requires that every student write a paper (!) that relates to TC somehow. The paper below is what happens when you mix a vague requirement with someone who is rather verbose and is one semester from graduating with a CS degree.
Oddly enough, I think I do a passable job relating Chi with the flow effect. Click "read more" to continue...
The Price Is, er, Right?
Submitted by bj on Sat, 2007-11-03 05:22.So I sat down with my wife tonight, fired up the TiVo and checked out my first The Price Is Right episode in the Drew Carey era. I'm something of a Drew fan, but I hadn't watched a tPIR show in probably 15 years. Drew did OK, but it amazes me that I used to watch (and actually enjoy) this program as a kid. Stuff I noticed:
- The outfits on the tPIR grrls have gotten less skimpy. Feh.
- Not much of anything else has changed in 20 or more years.

From the beginning of the semester through about two weeks ago, I had the following daily routine:
- 15-20 minutes on an exercise bike
- 15-20 minutes of practicing T'ai Chi training postures and the like
- Shower
- Sleep
